It Ain't Her First Rodeo

Katelyn has been obsessed with all things country lately. From country music to boots to horses... just everything; so we obviously had to incorporate that for her birthday party this year with an "It ain't her first rodeo... it's her second" theme.

I'm not going to lie, this party took a lot of work. Like A LOT! But it ended up being so worth it. The kids had a blast (and so did the grown ups for that matter). Most importantly, the birthday girl was so happy
A country family...This is the product of having lived in Spanish Fork for 15+ years. The only thing we had to buy, was Katelyn't hat... we had everything else already
Usually when we throw parties, the kids will play by themselves and the adults talk, but as all of the kids are getting older, I thought it was time we stared having some party games and it was a hit... with everyone!

I made milk-jug cow bowling
 "rope" the horse with hula-hoops
 and cows/piggies ring toss
For dinner, we went with chili dogs, potato salad and home made root-beer (like true cowboys)
my mom made this awesome watermelon cactus
Instead of  cake, I decided to go with 'sheriff" cupcakes this year
and they were a big hit (especially with the birthday girl)
I made little cow goodie-bags for all the kids with bubbles, a bandanna and lot of room for candy
The biggest highlight of the party was the piñata. It was the kids first and they LOVED IT!!!!
of course, non of the kids were strong enough to break it so Tio Ariel stepped in and took care of it for them
The only "not so great" part of the piñata was that I had planned for a lot more kids that were not able to make it so it was a RIDICULOUS amount of candy!

It was really such a great party. Thanks to everyone that came and help make it so special. A special thanks to Tia Laura for helping me with all the games
Happy Birthday little cowgirl!
