M.I.C.K.E.Y M.O.U.S.E

Don't lie... you read the title of this blog singing it in your head.

There is a certain magic at Disneyland that can not be felt anywhere else. It is true, innocent happiness. There are really no words to describe it. Growing up, it was my dream to be able to go to Disneyland, and now I've taken my son. There are NO WORDS!

The day stared with very nice walk to the trams (and yes, it did involve some jay-walking)

Waiting for the tram, Julianna is putting on a brave face but she is actually not feeling well in this picture

About to go in... it took all will power to stand still long enough to take this picture. The term "bouncing off the wall" is an understatement for me around Disneyland. We picked the perfect day to go. It the weather was perfect, it was completely overcasts and there were no lines.

As soon as we walked into the park, Julianna couldn't stand it anymore and she needed to sit down. Mark stayed with her and the rest of us headed up to the first ride of the day.... Space Mountain! So if you don't know, Disneyland has something in place called "Rider Switch". How it works is you ask for the pass as you walk into the line then after the first group rides the person that stood waiting with the baby gets to go straight in through the exit... no line :) So the Little Guy and I spend sometime at a gift shop as everyone else went on the ride.

We also got fast-passes to ride it again (this is supposed to be the "Neil Patrick Harris" at least that is what Nathan and Adam told us). And let me just say... the front is AWESOME!

After Space Mountain we road the Matterhorn, (we were told that it should be one of the first rides we go on since it always gets so busy and there are no fast-passes) and Julianna was just done. She felt so sick Mark and Julie decided it was time for her to go back to the condo. We were all really sad (specially her). Don't forget this was Disneyland though... there is true magic there. As they were leaving the park, Mark decided to go to guest services and ask them if there was anything they could do for her since she hadn't even be able to go on a single ride. They were able to give her a ticket for Friday so she was able to go home and rest (after she stopped throwing up that this... poor thing) knowing that her Disneyland wasn't ruin and she would get a Daddy-daughter day instead (at that point it was only Mark that was going to go back with her on Friday, but Julie ended up going as well. They had a blast!)

So we continued on the rides. Fantasyland is amazing. The Little Guy can go on every ride there and the first one on the list... and his first ride at Disneyland ever.... The Tea Cups. I think that Grandma Julie and I had a better time watching him than he even did riding it (and he had a lot of fun riding it)

I was really glad I was not inside the tea cup with the boys. Their whole goal was to go as fast as possible

This was actually my first time riding some of the classics like "Mr. Toad's Wild Ride"

The Little Guy's favorite in Disneyland... Buzzlightyear. Buzz is his favorite toy and he couldn't believe when we saw the big one. He rode it twice and then again with Uncle Nathan later in the day

See how happy he is?

As we walked out of the ride for a second time, I saw the Buzz onsies and was so happy! I had been trying to get the Little Guy to wear a hat all day and this was something that he could not take off! (I didn't have such luck finding something for Spencer. He refused to wear anything). This is his "Yeah, I know how I look" face

We went back to Fantasyland to go on the Peter Pan ride and that's when Mark joined us again

Three photo-bombs at once

Dumbo!

This was probably my favorite moment of the entire trip. We were walking and saw the Fairy God Mother just standing there by herself (people staring noticing her after we came so we caught her right on time). She was the first character the Little Guy met and at first he was really hesitant and shy. So she smiled and did a funny trick with her tongue. He just loved it. He smiled, gave her his hand, and even waved goodbye when we walked away. It was the most tender moment I think I have ever experience (Disneyland truly is a magical place)

Waiting for Star Tours... Spoiler Alert: they changed it. It is now in 3D, plays a different movie every time, and C3PO is the one that drives the shuttle. It was super cool. Mark says that it is because Disney bought the rights to the Star Wars movies so they can just use all the characters and scenery without worrying about copyrights.

This is my father-in-law's first selfie... I caught it as well :)

The Little Guy loved the "Enchanted Tiki Room" This is the best I could do without flash and it was before the show stared. He was just mesmerized for the entire show

This was also my first time on the Jungle Cruise. Our guide was super punny and I loved it. I love puns

"Pirates of the Caribbean" the Little Guy was so tired at this point he actually fell asleep in the middle of the ride. He did that a lot throughout the days at the parks. He would get super tired, fall asleep for about a minute and wake up super happy as if he was never tired at all.

He only sat by himself for a minute while I took the picture. His daddy was his favorite person in rides. I think he felt like he was safe if Daddy was holding him

We did corn dogs for dinner. Delicious and super filling but nice and pricey (Disney magic takes a hit a little when you stop to consider the prices)

After "Haunted Mansion" everyone else went to "Pirates" but we decided to try "Tarzan's Tree house". It was a big work-out (have you ever climbed all those stairs?) but so much fun

This is the Little Guy sucking out of a straw for the first time! (He is an expert at it now)

This might be my favorite picture of the trip. The Little Guy's face is just to die for. We took this picture while we were waiting for the parade to start. The Little Guy loved the parade, he was so impressed with it

He was pretty tired on the the way back. It had been a very full day for him after all

It was as perfect day as they come

So because we went to Disneyland on a Tuesday during their off season, they didn't have fireworks that night. Don't worry, though, we didn't miss them. On Friday, we met Julianna, Julie, and Mark outside the park and watch them from there. I just love everything about fireworks. They are one of the things that just blow my mind. How do they get explosions to do that?! Disney definitely knows :) they are just... wow
